What the hell are you guys smoking? Complex. Always complex.
If you can't run complex you shouldn't even be running the suit.
That's a bit extreme of a viewpoint. So no.
zzZaXxx wrote:Commando befuddles me. Fittings are soooo low. They have the least amount of slots in the game. They have more base HP than assault but they're sooooo much slower, with 2 less slots. The fact that they can carry 2 light weapons doesn't make up for all that.
If you want to use a mass driver, better to use a sentinel and carry a Magsec.
Unless you want that fat 10% damage bonus on top of mods that Sentinels don't get.
zzZaXxx wrote:Actually, Caldari scout might be the best for mass driver. You can expand your range far enough to see all your artillery targets and can maintain situational awareness via minimap. You can also get to your spot quickly and GTFO quickly. And you won't run out of ammo.
I just don't see how Commandos are at all worthwhile.

It's not extreme at all. This is a black-and-white issue. A suit is good for a specific thing, and it is subpar in other things. You either use it for what it's good at, or you pick something better. Attitudes like yours are why the majority of teams in PC are garbage.
Oh, please.
Saying that you should not run a specific suit strictly because you cannot use a complex damage mod rather than an enhanced damage mod is horseshit, and to suggest anything otherwise is absurd.
People should play what is fun. If a Minmatar Commando is fun, they should play it. If it isn't then pick something else. Yes, min/maxing has a place...PC. But the beauty of DUST is that you can play whatever you want, however you want to.
And for the record, I don't play PC. So my attitude has, quite literally, NOTHING to do with why the majority of teams in PC aren't good.
It also might have something to do with the fact that corps like AE have a lock on...uh...everything.
So, back to my original point.
No.
EDIT: I no want ban.

Ooooookay. I'm going to do my best to remain objective here...
Himiko Kuronaga wrote:No, people should play what wins. The goal of a competitive game is to try to win, not to have fun. Fun is merely a happy byproduct you get from the process. If you don't have fun trying to win, you shouldn't be playing competitive games at all. You're wasting everybody elses time that are associated with the game in question.
Are you a professional gamer? If yes, I applaud this attitude. If not...you need to get laid, my friend. Badly. I know some relatively attractive slutty college chicks that might be willing to help out, should you be interested.
Let's take an objective look at the definition of a "game"...
game, noun \-êg-üm\: a physical or mental activity or contest that has rules and that people do for pleasure
Golly gee, guys! Look! It's about doing something pleasurable! Whatever activity you are describing sounds much more like work, or chores. Hence my comment about professional gaming...since, you know, it is then (by definition) work. Games, by definition, are methods of passing time in a fun manner...there are plenty of corps in DUST that cater to those "hardcore" individuals that care more about winning than having fun. You are in one of the more well-known ones. I'm happy for you that you have found a niche.
But don't you dare impose your style of gameplay onto the rest of us.
Quote:People who claim they play to have fun are confused, horrible people in the same sect as those who talk loudly at the theater with their group of equally ignorant friends. If its the pretty colors on your screen that generate fun (you know, since clearly winning isnt a part of it) I recommend watching movies at home. They too have pretty colors, and some of them even have unicorns and friendship. Best of all, you won't be disrupting other people who actually know the purpose behind competitive gaming.
Is it hard work being this nasty? How long have you been cooped up in your mother's basement playing DUST without even a single beam of sunlight? Seriously, I can't remember the last time I saw someone on a forum try this hard to be a prick.
And if you weren't trying extra hard to be a prick, then you have a whole other set of issues to work out. Issues that will likely involve some couch time and pharmacotherapy.
Thanks for the thoughtful recommendation. As a matter of fact I do quite enjoy watching movies at home. Actually, my girlfriend and I have intentions of watching a couple tonight after I finish my substantial amount of homework. This whole "let's overload the college seniors because they're about to graduate" gets really old. But first, let me finish pointing out exactly how much of a douchemonster you are.
Me playing DUST to have fun disrupts no one. Is winning fun? Yes. Is losing fun? In a close battle, I would say yes.
If you and I are playing against each other, FA Q-synced to guarantee a win as best they can and me running with a bunch of random blueberries, or perhaps a single squad from my corp/contact list, who will win? You, clearly. Will it be fun for you? Be honest. Is winning, completely demolishing blueberries (many of whom are new to the game) fun?
If yes, were you bullied in school? Yes? Me, too. Get over it. The bully I dealt with still takes my lunch money every day...but he does it with a "Yes, sir" ...and he makes a hell of a sandwich.
If no, why do you do it?
Do you do it to ruin the NPE? Because I assure you, you are ruining it. Players like you are one of a laundry list of reasons that DUST is struggling and losing players. Granted, there is a HUGE list of things that CCP can and should do to improve the game...but players with an attitude such as yours don't help anything in the slightest.
Who gets disrupted? Do you? No, because you get an easy win. Just say thank you, that will suffice.
If anyone on my team has an issue with me about the reasons I play, they can **** off. If they want to win that badly, join FA or AE or NS or any other tryhard corp and go Q-sync pubs to protostomp on the new kids. Otherwise, shut up. I'm disrupting no one.

That is also your fault. Were you less of a carebear, that situation would not have developed.
Actually, that has nothing to do with me. Having only 9.4M SP at last count, I am still maxing my cores and getting my weapons/mods/suits to where they need to be in order to be ready for PC. So even if I was a carebear (which I'm not, trust me), I still would have nothing to do with AE being a bunch of domineering tryhards that have ruined PC for everyone else and are now working on ruining FW with these silly contests they've begun to run.
(You still owe me that thank you for an easy win)
